Teaching Mentoring
& Inspiring

Learning to play a musical instrument is a voyage of discovery & very healthy for the brain.

Playing an instrument builds many skills for life, fuels the brain, inspires creativity and gives a sense of exploration and commitment. Setting up well from the beginning is important, as is looking for the joy! playing music with friends, performing concerts, and experiencing the wide diversity of musical culture available to us.  Performing as a soloist or band member is life affirming and character building with many of the skills we learn transferring into other disciplines - such as resilience in sport, concentration levels at school or work, confidence in public speaking and so on. Being a musician is a real skill for life.

Alexander Technique

TEACHER

Many great performers and educators have paid tribute to the work of F.M. Alexander over the past 100 years.  It's success as a healthy and practical subject helps to positively influence many areas of life, education and work. The principles of the Alexander Technique continue to gain intrigue and interest from performers, business executives and those who seek to explore their true potential.

At Trinity College of Music Matthew took special interest in the Alexander Technique, and in 2004 spent 3 years at the Alexander Teacher Training School in London's West End with teacher Anthony Kingsley. Introducing the principles of Alexander Technique into his teaching has proven most successful and valuable to all ages of student, both amateur and professional.

As well as a busy private practice, Matthew has presented Alexander Technique sessions at many leading Institutes and colleges including The Royal Military School of Music, Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Trinity Laban, West Sussex Music, Felsted School and Dulwich College. He is currently resident AT teacher at Sevenoaks School.
